Let’s Activate Glenorchy’s CBD

The document below provides a design concept of GCC Main Road. Also, a 3D animation video has been posted here.

Concept Urban Design Plans (Aug 17)

Project Update - 27/10/2017

  • Detailed Designs – Council’s urban design consultants have updated the concept plans of the proposed streetscape changes. The updated plans have been circulated to businesses and property owners in the CBD area and are also available to view - above.
  • Planning Permit- The updated plans and supporting documentation have been submitted as part of a planning permit application for the project.
  • Proposed Playground & Café – Building on the consultation from late last year, Council officers want to know the community’s thoughts on the playground and kiosk development on the Council Lawns. A survey will be available from early November on the website or in the Council foyer.
  • Preliminary Works – Excavation works to aid the detail design process (soil testing and checking service locations) are expected to be undertaken during the coming months.
  • Street Trees – Specialist arborist advice to be sought on protection and/or removal of some existing street trees.

As the project progresses, further updates will be placed on Council’s website and in the Glenorchy Gazette.
