The City of Glenorchy, adjoining Hobart, is home to the second largest CBD in the southern half of the state.  Regional retail and service areas are located along a 3 kilometre corridor serving a large proportion of the region's 200,000 residents.

The 60 plus hectares of commercial land are principally split between the centres of Moonah, Glenorchy and Claremont.

The City has some 400 hectares of industrial land which is the largest concentration of industrial activity in the State making Glenorchy the centre of manufacturing, transport, warehousing and distribution for the region.
