The transportation section of the Glenorchy City Council is responsible for traffic management, road safety and parking matters on Council roads.

The management of traffic on the road network within the City of Glenorchy is shared between the Transportation Section of the Glenorchy City Council and the State Government Department of Infrastructure, Energy & Resources (DIER). Traffic data (including crash records, vehicle speeds and traffic volumes) is regularly assessed to determine where safety deficiencies in the road network may be.
Council has responsibility for the planning, provision, management and regulation of car parking in the City of Glenorchy including the commercial precincts of Glenorchy, Moonah and Claremont.
