Moonah Taste of the World Festival is a major, one day celebration through food, of the rich multicultural heritage of Glenorchy City and southern Tasmania. it is now in its eighth year.
Thirty food stalls provided food for over 6000 patrons. About 50 volunteers from Glenorchy City Council staff members, TasTafe, Claremont College and Community Corrections helped with counting patrons, setting up, pulling down, manning the information tent, helping with children's activities and much more.
Council held four volunteer briefings, two food safety presentations for food stall holders, used 36 tables, 84 trestle tables, 19 three metre by three metre marquees, seven larger sized marquees, two very large hocker marquees, about six kilometres of electrical cabling and five vans. There were over 30 nationalities represented in either food or entertainment, 15 children's activities eight people in the information tent throughout the day and about 25 Council staff.The 2018 event was on Sunday 25 March in the vibrant suburb of Moonah.
