Glenorchy City Council will be introducing a fortnightly FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) kerbside collection service from February 2020.
FOGO will allow you to recycle your food and garden waste in a Council supplied kitchen caddy and FOGO bin.
A new FOGO charge of $35 will be included on your 2019-2020 rates to cover collection and treatment costs from February 2020 until June 2020, as well as all roll-out costs, including buying the bins and setting up the program.
Council may be able to offer some assistance based on financial hardship, as per Glenorchy City Council's Financial Hardship Policy.
Council is also reviewing how best to recognise residents that already divert all their food and garden waste, and will update the Waste Policy before the FOGO roll out.
For more information about how FOGO will work and what it means to for you, have a look at our FOGO FAQs (external site).
