Glenorchy City Council launched its CBD Revitalisation Project – Stage 3 on 30 January 2019.
Guests were entertained by Glenorchy City Concert Brass and then informed by the Mayor and Elise Archer MP who provided essential information and updates about the project and upcoming activities.
Mayor Kristie Johnston said it was delightful watching our community members and businesses coming to celebrate the beginning of our new CBD, a welcoming city, welcoming place.
“Our upgraded CBD will celebrate Glenorchy’s image and pride and will provide a great environment for people for both day and night time activities. It will encourage people to enjoy our arts, heritage and public spaces and increase accessibility, safety, and exploration of our CBD,” said the Mayor.
The highlight of the Launch event was the golden opportunity of communication between community members and the Glenorchy CBD Project Reference Group. The Project Reference Group is made up of individuals from businesses, emergency services, transport organisations, and education providers. This group has been and will continue to work closely with the City of Glenorchy’s CBD Project team to provide advice, support, and information while the planning and delivery of the project take place. Through this group's members, community members have accumulated helpful and accurate information and updates and understand more about the aims and the desired outcomes of the project.
Glenorchy City Council also set up pop-up information desks to hand out detailed information and updates on the project, as well as to answer community members’ questions. The Council was delighted to welcome the many community members that showed interest in the project and excitement towards our new CBD.
