Have Your Say! New Tasmanian Multicultural Policy and Action Plan 2019-22
Tasmania has a rich history of migration to the State. Our Island is home to people born in 177 different countries and there are 159 identified languages spoken in Tasmanian homes. According to the 2016 Census, more than 61,200 Tasmanians were born overseas.
Regardless of country of birth, language, culture, religion, or time of arrival, all Tasmanians share common aspirations for good health and wellbeing, equitable access to affordable government services and participation in the community. The Tasmanian Multicultural Policy and Action Plan seeks to realise that vision.
In early 2019, a new Tasmanian Multicultural Policy and Action Plan will be launched, building on the achievements of the 2014 Tasmanian Multicultural Policy and Multicultural Action Plan.
The new Multicultural Policy will establish a set of principles and values that we want to bring to life in the Tasmanian Community. This will require the Government and entire community to work together. The Policy will be accompanied by a three year action plan that will set out the specific actions that the Tasmanian Government will take to achieve the priorities of the Policy.
To ensure our approach to multiculturalism, and identified priorities, are ‘on track’ and relevant, we want to hear from the people of Glenorchy about your experience and views.
