Glenorchy Play Space Upgrades

Transforming Playgrounds Across Hobart’s Northern Suburbs

Park Playground Tolosa
Tolosa Playground

Glenorchy’s playspaces and playground equipment are ageing and out of step with contemporary facilities in other municipalities. The people of Glenorchy are crying out for immediate improvements. Around 82% of our playspaces are over 15 years old with 68% over 20 years old and in need of immediate attention.

Investing in our play equipment and playspaces is a priority in Council’s capital works program. However, to achieve the upgrades we need in the short-term, we need to secure additional funding.

Funding our Playspace Transformation Program will transform 10 existing playspaces across the city into contemporary, accessible and attractive family spaces, which will enhance and add value to our city and mean a great deal to the people of Glenorchy.

Funding / Investment sought

Council is seeking funding of $1.5 million to provide the people of Glenorchy with renewed and upgraded playspaces across our city.

Any funding obtained would be invested wisely under Council’s 2021 Playspace Strategy to optimise Council’s playground network, ensuring any renewals and upgrades are delivered to the most used and needed facilities.

The 10 play spaces targeted for upgrades if funding is secured are:

  1. Alkoo Circle Reserve, Chigwell
  2. Booth Ave Reserve, Glenorchy
  3. Collinsvale Reserve, Collinsvale
  4. Chandos Drive, Berriedale (TBC)
  5. Barossa Rd reserve, Glenorchy
  6. Battersby Drive Reserve, Claremont
  7. Cairnduff Reserve, Glenorchy
  8. Cooinda Park, West Moonah
  9. Roseneath Reserve, Austins Ferry
  10. Windermere Bay, Claremont (partial renewal)
