At its meeting on 29 May 2023, Council authorised preliminary investigations and community engagement to explore the potential disposal of these properties as part of Council’s Statement of Commitment on Housing.

The properties are next to one another and are both zoned General Residential:
• Unnumbered land at Baltonsborough Road (CT 141060/101) is approximately 2,030m².
• 84 Sunshine Road (CT 128489/91) is approximately 765m².
Together the properties comprise approximately 2,795m² of General Residential zoned land and have been identified as having the potential to support future housing development.
Since Council’s 2023 decision, amendments to the sealed plans and titles for both properties have been completed to remove restrictive covenants and highway dedications that constrained their potential residential use.
The two properties are being investigated together and are presented on the same Let’s Talk Glenorchy landing page. However, each property has its own survey and quick poll so the community can provide feedback separately on the potential disposal of each property.
Community consultation closes at 5pm Monday, 2 November 2026.
Feedback received will assist in the development of reports and recommendations to Council on whether to proceed to the next stage of disposal for each property.
If Council decides to proceed with a property, the next stage would be the formal land disposal process under section 178 of the Local Government Act 1993, which includes statutory public notification and an opportunity for formal objections to be lodged in writing.
General information and FAQs about Council’s Land Disposal Program are available at Council’s Land Disposals Page.
