A backflow prevention device is fitted to water supply pipes to stop contaminants from entering the drinking water supply. Properties with high-hazard installations are required to have one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Installation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A Certificate of Likely Compliance and Plumbing Permit must be issued by Council before a device can be installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annual Testing <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Owners are responsible for having their device tested every 12 months by a licensed plumber. Once the device passes, the plumber completes a test report \u2014 a copy of which must be sent to Council. Council maintains a register of all devices and will send owners an annual reminder and invoice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
