On Wednesday 13 May, we had another productive Garden Group session with volunteers hard at work preparing the space for upcoming winter planting activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Together, the group prepped 9 veggie beds by breaking up compacted soil, adding soil conditioner where needed, and incorporating manure ready for planting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Volunteers also manually mowed almost the entire garden, excluding some of the longer grassed sections, and completed some light pruning of the trees near the front gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of our regular volunteers, Mark, took the initiative to repair the share shed and stabilise a tap support pole, helping improve the functionality and safety of the garden space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group also worked together to develop a seedling wish list ahead of next week\u2019s volunteer planting day as part of National Volunteer Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the coming weeks, our team will work closely with the group to establish a group agreement and discuss shared ideas for the garden moving into Winter for Spring, such as a quarterly newsletter and wish list for workshops and other initiatives at the garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
