Announcements by the Chair<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Deputy Mayor provided an update on the Glenorchy War Memorial Pool, confirming there was no security breach. The recent fire was not on the pool site and has not affected the redevelopment timeline. The project remains on track for the head contract works to be completed within three weeks, with minor works, site clean-up and commissioning to continue into July before the pool opens on 1 October 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Deputy Mayor also highlighted strong use of the Youth Hub, with more than 50 young people attending Thursday drop-in sessions each week. Additional weekday drop-in sessions will start on Wednesdays. Updates were also provided on new public art projects, B Kinder Day, a Salvation Army and TOMRA Cleanaway recycling initiative, and a local government election candidate information evening at Moonah Arts Centre on 1 July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Economic Development Plan – Prosperous Glenorchy 2031<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Council endorsed the draft Prosperous Glenorchy 2031 Economic Development Plan, which supersedes the 2020\u201325 Economic Development Strategy. The plan sets 36 actions across five priority objectives and is supported by a $620 million development pipeline, with delivery to be tracked through quarterly reports to Council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Policy Update: Mobile Food Businesses on Council Property<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Council adopted the revised Mobile Food Business Policy and authorised the Chief Executive Officer to approve additional or altered mobile food business locations, subject to any planning permit requirements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Policy Update: Sponsorship<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Council adopted the updated Sponsorship Policy following its four-year review cycle. Changes were administrative, including replacing references to the General Manager with Chief Executive Officer and adding related documents such as the Conflict of Interest Policy and Gifts and Benefits Policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Policy Update: Election Caretaker Period<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Council adopted the updated Election Caretaker Period Policy to support good governance ahead of the expected October 2026 Local Government General Election. The policy clarifies that the caretaker period is likely to run from early September to late October 2026 and includes terminology updates from \u201cAlderman\u201d to \u201cElected Members\u201d and from \u201cGeneral Manager\u201d to \u201cChief Executive Officer\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Policy Update: Dealing with Unreasonable Customer Conduct<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Council adopted the revised Dealing with Unreasonable Customer Conduct Policy following its four-year review cycle. The policy continues to provide a structured approach for managing a small number of unreasonable customer conduct matters while protecting staff wellbeing, service delivery and fair access to Council services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Glenorchy Planning Authority Delegations<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Council endorsed a new delegation framework for discretionary planning applications under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993. Qualified planning officers can now decide applications that receive five or fewer objections, helping streamline decision-making for routine applications. Larger developments and applications with significant community interest will continue to be considered by Elected Members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Procurement Exemptions<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Council noted an approved procurement exemption for Integralis to provide the ManageEngine software suite for a further three-year term, with an option to extend for two additional years. The contract value is $102,420 excluding GST and was approved because the software supports critical ICT service desk operations and integrates with existing systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
