Trees on private land
A Planning Permit Application is required to prune, lop or remove a tree of heritage value or trees and vegetation in areas of high landscape quality or biodiversity value under the Glenorchy Interim Planning Scheme 2015 (external link).
For more information view our Fact Sheet (PDF).
If you are thinking about removing or pruning a tree please contact us to find out whether a Planning Permit Application is required.
Trees on Council land
We are responsible for dealing with problems caused by trees on Council land, road reservations or a nature strip (where there is kerb and channel).
We may also address issues with trees on private property that are causing a traffic hazard or overhanging a footpath.
To lodge a complaint about a tree that we are responsible for, please contact us.
Species selection and appropriate maintenance are important for safe and manageable streets and roadsides. We also choose to plant trees that will provide aesthetic, physical, environmental and ecological benefits to the community.
