It offers two streams:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Learner&#8217;s Program<\/strong> \u2014 6 facilitated sessions, $400 worth of safety gear, and fully covered course fees for the pre-learner&#8217;s course at AJL Training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Provisional Program<\/strong> \u2014 3 facilitated sessions, $400 worth of safety gear, fully covered course fees for the pre-provisional course, a basic motorcycle safety check with a qualified mechanic, and access to a track day at Baskerville Raceway<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The following key topics are covered over the 6 weeks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Correct protective and safety gear<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crashes: where, how and why they happen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Risk factors; alcohol and drugs, road rage and attitude<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community responsibility and involvement in road safety<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safe riding (Roadcraft); observation and responses to road conditions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Legal responsibility of licence holders, including registration and insurance etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presentation from local community member who has lived experience riding motorcycles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We pay for:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>6 weeks (1.5 hours per week) with a facilitator (classroom style). Lunch is provided.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A helmet and a pair of gloves (up to $400)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 x full day pre-learner practical test with AJL training in Moonah (cost $704.00)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are at least 16 years and 9 months of age and under 25 years old.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have completed a&nbsp;<em>Motorcycle Road Rules Knowledge Test<\/em>&nbsp;at Service Tasmania<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You commit to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Safe motorcycle riding and promoting safe riding in your community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A Code of Conduct for the duration of the program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>100% on-time attendance at the 6 x 1.5-hour sessions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help plan, participate and deliver a community awareness event or campaign (an extra date\/time will be set for this)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in surveys (before, during and after the sessions) and a focus group<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive a phone call from us 6 months after the course<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optional: Attend the next course for an hour to tell your story<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To find out more or register for an upcoming course, contact the Community Development team on 03 6216 6800 or <a href=\"mailto:gccmail@gcc.tas.gov.au\">gccmail@gcc.tas.gov.au<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"block-button\">\n    <a href=\"http:\/\/youtube.com\/shorts\/LwEV-uzdKzE?feature=share\"\n       class=\"block-button__link btn btn-primary\"\n       target=\"_blank\">\n        <span class=\"animate-underline\">\n            Click here to hear from Kai, a graduate of the Full Gear Program!
