Get to know the candidates<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Candidates were invited to provide a statement and photo for your consideration. Statements are reproduced here as provided by the candidate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tec.tas.gov.au\/local-government\/elections-2026\/candidate-statements\/glenorchy-city.html\">Click here to see the latest candidate statements.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Statements appear in alphabetical order but the order of names on ballot papers is rotated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Record your vote<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Number the boxes on each ballot paper from 1 onwards in the order of your choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the election of 9 councillors, number the boxes from 1 to 26 in order of your choice. Number at least 5 boxes to make your vote count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the election of mayor, number the boxes from 1 to 6 in order of your choice. Number at least one box to make your vote count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the election of deputy mayor, number the boxes from 1 to 12 in the order of your choice. Number at least one box to make your vote count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Make your vote secret<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Put your completed ballot papers in the ballot paper envelope, which is the smaller envelope with the wider flap, and seal it securely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Validate your vote<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sign your ballot paper envelope in the box on the flap to declare that you are the voter named on this envelope and you have voted on the ballot papers in this envelope. You must sign the envelope and leave the flap attached \u2014 or your vote won\u2019t be counted. The returning officer will remove the flap with your details on it before opening the envelope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then put your ballot paper envelope in the reply-paid envelope \u2014 the larger envelope \u2014 and seal it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Post your vote<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Post your reply paid envelope straight away (no stamp needed), or take your vote to the Glenorchy City Council office at 374 Main Road, Glenorchy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Information about the upcoming local government election in print:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your vote must be received by 2pm on Tuesday 27 October 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t delay \u2013 late votes won\u2019t be counted!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are 3 elections being held for Glenorchy City Council:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>9 councillors \u2013 26 candidates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mayor \u2013 6 candidates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deputy mayor \u2013 12 candidates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As well as this booklet, your postal ballot pack contains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3 ballot papers, printed on 2 sheets of paper:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a councillor ballot paper \u2014 black printing on red paper; long and narrow<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>separate mayor and deputy mayor ballot papers, printed on the same green sheet of paper; one corner of the sheet is cut off<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a ballot paper envelope \u2014 you must sign this; it is the smaller envelope with the wider flap<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a reply paid envelope \u2014 the larger envelope with the narrower flap.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your ballot paper envelope is designed to keep your identity separate from your vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Successful candidates for mayor and deputy mayor must also be elected as councillors to be able to accept these offices. The elected councillors, mayor and deputy mayor will serve until October 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Questions?
