Thinking about standing for Glenorchy City Council? Start here.

Glenorchy City Council is hosting a free information session for community members interested in standing at the upcoming local government elections.

Council staff and Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT) representatives session will provide an overview of the role of local government, how Council makes decisions, the responsibilities of elected members, and what you need to know before nominating.

Whether you are seriously considering candidacy or simply curious about what is involved, this is an opportunity to ask questions, gain insights, and make an informed decision about how you could help shape Glenorchy’s future.

Time: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Location: Moonah Arts Centre, Albert Road, Moonah

Public Transport:

  • Bus stops are located a convenient 100m walk on Main Rd, these frequent buses head either north to Glenorchy Interchange or South into Hobart CBD.

  • Moonah Arts Centre has free visitor parking behind the Centre (2 hours), with extra parking across the road (3 hours).
  • There are 2 accessible parking spaces directly in front of the Centre on Albert Road.

Accessibility

  • Moonah Arts Centre is fully wheelchair accessible. There are 2 Disability Parking Permit bays located on Albert Road.
  • Accessible toilets are available onsite
  • Moonah Arts Centre accepts Companion Cards. Carers accompanying a Companion Card holder will receive free entry to our ticketed events. Please call ahead to confirm capacity.

  • Moonah Arts Centre is a smoke free venue.
