The Glenorchy City Council Audit Panel provides independent oversight of Council’s financial performance, risk management and governance.

Glenorchy City Council’s Audit Panel helps ensure Council is managed responsibly, transparently and in accordance with legislative requirements. The Panel provides oversight of Council’s financial management, governance and risk management practices.

What does the Audit Panel do?

The Audit Panel supports good governance by:

  • Reviewing Council’s financial management and performance
  • Monitoring Council’s compliance with legislation, policies and procedures
  • Reviewing risk management and internal control processes
  • Comparing Council’s performance against long-term plans and strategic objectives
  • Providing findings and recommendations to Council

Who is on the Audit Panel?

The Audit Panel operates under the Audit Panel Charter of Glenorchy City Council, which outlines the Panel’s role, membership, meeting procedures and reporting responsibilities.

Audit Panel members are also required to comply with the Audit Panel Code of Conduct.

Meetings

The Audit Panel includes both elected members and independent external members with expertise in finance, auditing and governance. Independent members are appointed through a public expression of interest process.

Reports

Audit Panel meetings are closed to the public and meeting agendas and minutes are not publicly available. The Chair of the Audit Panel provides a formal annual report to Council, which is published in Council’s Annual Report.

Audit Panel reports are provided to Council and are publicly available through the Documents and Publications page.
