Rates Notice via Email

You can now receive rates notices via email which helps reduce the impact on the environment and also helps Council reduce printing and postage costs.It's easy to opt-in, click here and follow the prompts.

Payment Methods

Glenorchy City Council offers the following payment methods for your convenience.

** Invoices only – payments of fee sheets can only be made in person at Council offices

BPAY – telephone and internet banking

Access your internet banking or alternatively call your bank, credit union or building society to make this payment from your cheque, savings or credit card account.

BPOINT – payment by credit card

You can make payments by credit card. Please ensure you have all the required details ready before visiting the payment site.Take note of the biller code you need before a making payment.

  • BPOINT is used to make payments with your Visa or MasterCard.
  • You will need to provide your credit card number and expiry date.
  • You will receive a transaction number for your records.

  • You will need to use a biller code number from the list below:
  • 868893 for rates
  • 1001392 for dog registrations
  • 1002840 for infringements
  • 737767 for food registrations
  • 737775 for sundry debtors.

Navigate to BPOINT website (external link) or alternatively call 1300 BPOINT (1300 276 468) and follow the prompts.

Payment by mail

  • Mail your cheque or money order (made payable to Glenorchy City Council) together with your remittance slip to Glenorchy City Council, PO Box 103, Glenorchy TAS 7010.
    Please note that:
  • Post-dated cheques will not be accepted.
  • Council will not be responsible for delays in the postal service.

Payment in person

Bring your invoice and your payment amount to our Customer Service counter at 374 Main Road, Glenorchy.

Please note that:

  • Payments may be made by cash, cheque, approved credit card and debit card.
  • We can take payments on Monday to Friday between 8.30am to 4.45pm.
  • CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS IN PERSON WILL INCUR A 0.3% SURCHARGE, if you want to avoid this fee, consider paying through BPOINT, BPAY or Australia Post.

Payment via Centrepay

Use Centrepay to arrange deductions from your Centrelink payment. For more information, please contact Customer Service on 62166 800.

Payment by direct debit

Direct debit payments can be completed using the Direct Debit Request Form (PDF). To amend or cancel an existing direct debit, complete the Authority to Cancel/Amend Direct Debit form (PDF).

You can obtain this forms by requesting them by email to customer service or by to Glenorchy City Council, PO Box 103, Glenorchy TAS 7010.

Please note that:

  • To use direct debit, you need to have an electronic banking facility.
  • Direct debit allows your bank to transfer agreed amounts from a nominated cheque or savings account to Council.
  • You can select to make payments weekly, fortnightly, monthly or by instalment to best fit with your needs. Our direct debit year runs from August to April.
  • No interest or penalty will apply on up to date direct debit arrangements.

Payment via Australia Post

Navigate to Post Billpay online (external link) or phone 13 18 16. Payments may be made at any Australia Post Office or Post Office Agency.

Payment by credit card over the phone

Call our Customer Service Centre on 03 6216 6800 to make your over the phone by credit card.

Please note that:

  • You need to have your account and Visa or MasterCard ready.
  • CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS OVER THE PHONE WILL INCUR A 0.3% SURCHARGE. If you want to avoid this fee, consider paying through BPOINT, BPAY or Australia Post.
