Council meetings are open to the public.
How to have your say:
Public Question Time
15 minutes is set aside near the start of each meeting for public questions. When asking a question, you are to state your name and suburb, and your contribution must be a question, not a comment. The Chair may decline a question, or the Chair, Elected Member or Council Officer can provide a response at the time the question is asked. If an answer is not able to be answered at the time, it will be ‘taken on notice’ and the answer will be on the next agenda. All questions and answers are recorded in the minutes.
Question with Notice
You can submit a written question in advance by emailing gccmail@gcc.tas.gov.au or by posting to the Chief Executive Officer, PO Box 103, Glenorchy TAS 7010. If your question is a ‘question with notice’ and is received 7 days before the meeting, a response will be recorded in the agenda and minutes if appropriate. If received after this time, the question will be held over to the next agenda.
Addressing a Council Meeting
Members of the public can request to speak at a Council Meeting on a particular topic. Submit your request by email or mail, titled ‘Request to Address a Council Meeting’.
