The Long-Term Financial Management Plan looks ahead 10 years

Ensuring Glenorchy City Council can continue to deliver services and maintain infrastructure into the future.

Glenorchy City Council’s Long-Term Financial Management Plan looks ahead over a 10-year period to help ensure Council can continue delivering services, maintaining infrastructure and supporting the community into the future.

What does it cover?

The Long-Term Financial Management Plan considers:

  • Projected revenue from rates, fees, grants and other income sources
  • Forecast expenditure on Council services and infrastructure
  • Long-term infrastructure renewal and maintenance requirements
  • Debt levels and financial sustainability indicators
  • Assumptions about future economic and financial conditions

Why it matters

Long-term financial planning helps Council make informed and sustainable decisions that support the future financial health of the municipality. It assists Council to balance service delivery, infrastructure investment and affordability, while helping to avoid sudden significant rate increases or reductions in services.

Reviewing the plan

The Long-Term Financial Management Plan is reviewed and updated regularly, including when Council adopts a new budget or strategic plan.
