Glenorchy City Council operates within a clear governance and legal framework to ensure transparent decision-making, accountability and effective service delivery for the community.
Organisation and structure
Council is made up of Elected Members who represent the community and set the strategic direction for the municipality. The elected Council is supported by the Chief Executive Officer and Council staff, who are responsible for delivering services, implementing Council decisions and managing day-to-day operations.
Legal framework
Council operates under the Local Government Act 1993 (Tasmania) and other relevant legislation. Council also has a range of by-laws that apply within the Glenorchy municipality.

We are committed to protecting personal information and providing access to Council information in accordance with privacy and right to information legislation.
