If you have a parking fine, you have 4 options.
You can view photos of your parking fine using your infringement number and vehicle registration, both found on your notice.
Glenorchy City Council manages parking enforcement within the municipality to help maintain safe, fair and accessible parking for residents, businesses and visitors. Parking restrictions and time limits are enforced to support traffic flow, improve turnover in high-demand areas and ensure equitable access to parking spaces across Glenorchy.
Council’s authorised officers patrol public roads and parking areas within the municipality to monitor compliance with parking restrictions and traffic regulations.
Parking infringements may be issued for offences including:
- Exceeding time limits
- Parking in prohibited or restricted areas
- Parking without payment where required
- Parking in accessible parking bays without a permit
- Obstructing traffic, driveways or pedestrian access
- Failing to comply with parking signs and road markings
Drivers are responsible for ensuring they understand and comply with all applicable parking restrictions when parking within Glenorchy.
If you have received a parking infringement notice, the following information outlines payment options, review processes and enforcement procedures.
Parking infringement notices issued within Glenorchy can be paid using a range of payment methods. Payment should be made within the timeframe stated on the infringement notice to avoid additional fees or enforcement action.
Payment options include:
- Online — via Council’s website using the infringement number listed on the notice
- In person — at Council’s Customer Service Centre, 374 Main Road, Glenorchy
- BPAY — using the biller code and reference details provided on the infringement notice
- By phone — by contacting Council on (03) 6216 6800
Parking fines should generally be paid within 28 days of the notice date unless the infringement is being formally reviewed.
Failure to pay within the required timeframe may result in additional penalties, enforcement costs or referral to external enforcement agencies.
Your options — act within 28 days
- Pay the fine using any of Council’s payment options.
- Request a payment plan via the Extension of Time to Pay form (PDF).
- Contest the fine if you believe it was issued incorrectly — complete the Withdrawal Request form (PDF).
- Request a court hearing by lodging a Notice of Election for a Court Hearing (PDF) via email, in person (374 Main Road, 8.30am–5pm Mon–Fri), or by mail to The General Manager, PO Box 103, Glenorchy TAS 7010.
If you do nothing after 28 days
You’ll be automatically convicted and the fine passed to the Monetary Penalties Enforcement Service (MPES), who will add extra costs on top.
How fines are calculated
Fines are set by State Government legislation as ‘penalty units’, with the dollar value updated each financial year. You can check the current value of a penalty unit on the Justice Tasmania website.

Additional enforcement fees and penalties may apply once a fine has been referred for recovery.
Enforcement action may include:
