Privacy
Council collects personal information when you interact with us, such as when you apply for a permit, register a dog, make a payment or contact Council for assistance.
We collect and use personal information to:
- Provide the services you request
- Meet legal and regulatory obligations
- Improve Council services and operations
Council does not sell personal information or disclose it without consent, except where required or authorised by law.
Privacy complaints
If you believe Council has mishandled your personal information, you can make a privacy complaint. We encourage you to contact Council in the first instance so we can work to resolve the issue.

Right to Information (RTI)
Under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Tasmania), members of the public can apply for access to documents held by Council.
How to make an RTI application
To apply for access to information:
- Complete the RTI application form available in the Documents and Publications Library.
- Submit the application to Council by email, post or in person
- Pay the applicable application fee, unless a fee waiver applies
Council is required to respond to RTI applications within 20 working days.
What information is available
Many Council documents are already publicly available on our website. A formal RTI application is generally only required where the information is not otherwise publicly accessible.
