Glenorchy City Council has a clear structure with elected members setting direction and professional staff delivering services.

Elected members

Council is made up of nine Elected Members, including the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, who are elected by the Glenorchy community. Elected members are responsible for setting strategic direction, adopting policies, approving the budget and making decisions on behalf of the community.

Elected Members do not manage the day-to-day operations of Council.

Chief Executive Officer

The CEO is responsible for leading the organisation, implementing Council decisions and managing Council staff and operations. The CEO is appointed by, and accountable to, the elected Council.

Staff teams

Council staff deliver a wide range of services across the municipality and are organised into teams and departments that support:

  • Community services
  • Planning and development
  • Infrastructure and works
  • Environmental services
  • Customer service
  • Corporate services, including finance, governance, communications and information technology
