Glenorchy City Council’s Jackson St Landfill is operating as normal despite a fire at the site on Friday night.
Council Chief Executive Officer Emilio Reale said it appeared someone had broken into the site before a pile of discarded mattresses were set alight.
“There was no other damage to the facility and it is operating as usual today.
“While these things are frustrating, I am relieved that no-one was injured dealing with the incident and there was no serious damage to the facility,” Mr Reale said.
The Tasmania Fire Service and council staff attended the scene after the fire was reported.
