GCC offers eligible organisations access to discounted landfill disposal fees at the Jackson Street Landfill
From 1 July 2026, eligible organisations will be charged the local resident rate of $189 per tonne for general waste, compared with the commercial rate of $340 per tonne — providing a significant saving while still supporting the principles of user-pays and waste minimisation.
Community groups and individuals undertaking Council-approved clean-up activities on Council-owned or managed land may also be eligible for free landfill entry, provided approval is obtained before works commence.
Charitable recyclers may be able to access additional assistance through the Tasmanian Government’s Charitable Recycler Rebate Program.
