The Southern Tasmania Regional Land Use Strategy (STRLUS) is the regional planning framework for southern Tasmania.
What is the STRLUS?
The STRLUS guides land use planning and development across the southern Tasmania region, including Glenorchy. It sits above individual planning schemes and sets the regional context for growth, development and environmental protection.
The strategy addresses:
- Regional settlement patterns and growth
- Economic development and employment
- Transport and infrastructure
- Environmental values and hazards
- Housing diversity and affordability
How it affects Glenorchy
The STRLUS informs the Tasmanian Planning Scheme — Glenorchy. Planning decisions in Glenorchy must be consistent with the regional strategy.
Who manages the STRLUS?
The STRLUS is managed by the Southern Tasmania Regional Land Use Planning Committee and the Tasmanian Planning Commission.
