King George V Oval (KGV) is one of Glenorchy’s most significant sporting and community venues.
Council has been undertaking major investment to upgrade and improve the precinct.
About KGV
King George V Oval is a major sports ground in Glenorchy used by football, cricket and other sporting codes. The precinct also includes facilities for community events and activities.
Upgrades
In 2025, Glenorchy City Council completed a major redevelopment of the KGV precinct at Grove Road. The project delivered a refurbished grandstand with significantly upgraded facilities, including:
- Two new player change rooms
- New referee change rooms
- A first aid room
- A kiosk
- New storage rooms
- New fencing and gates to provide separation between players, match officials and spectators
Works were delivered in two stages, with Stage 1 completed in July 2024.
The Glenorchy Knights’ clubrooms were also fully refurbished as part of the project. The clubrooms are open to patrons on match days, with food and drinks available for purchase. The upstairs mezzanine area is reserved for Knights members.
Community benefit
These upgrades make KGV a better facility for sporting clubs, community events and the broader Glenorchy community, supporting the growth of sport and active recreation across all ages.
