Tips for Donating

Donating your pre-loved items is a great way to support local charities and give quality goods a second life. Before dropping off your donations, keep these tips in mind:

• Donate quality items. If it’s clean, safe and in good working order, it’s more likely to find a new home.
• Wash clothing and linen. Freshly laundered items are ready for resale and save volunteers valuable time.
• Check for damage. Make sure items aren’t broken, heavily stained, mouldy or missing important parts.
• Pack donations carefully. Use sturdy bags or boxes to protect your items during transport.
• Donate during opening hours. Leaving items outside after hours can expose them to the weather and may result in them becoming unusable.
• Call ahead for large items. If you’re donating furniture or bulky goods, check with the store first to ensure they can accept them.

• Used underwear, unless new and unworn
• Items that have been recalled or don’t meet current safety requirements
