Join us at this special community day to celebrate the rewilding of the New Town Rivulet estuary!
Just nine months ago the mouth of the New Town Rivulet was lined by crumbling concrete walls, broken stormwater pipes and littered with abandoned shopping trolleys and other rubbish.
Now, thanks to a joint project between the City of Hobart and Glenorchy City Council, the concrete is gone, 30 000 native trees, shrubs, grasses and water plants have been planted, and birdlife is returning.
Join us for this special celebration. Discover new tracks. Wonder at restored wetland habitat. Marvel at returning birdlife and visit information stalls.
There will be free face painting and ice-cream for the kids as well as a coffee van with nibbles.
You’ll also get a chance to take home a native plant for your garden.
This event will run from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm , Saturday 8 November 2025.
