Kerb and footpath renewal – Tolosa Street, Glenorchy

25 May 2026 - 31 July 2026

Construction to kick off on Tolosa Street, Glenorchy from the Brent Street roundabout through to the Barossa Road roundabout.

Works include the removal and renewal of the existing kerb and channel, along with the footpath.

Traffic control measures will be in place for the duration of works and, at times, lane closures will be required which may cause delays.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes where possible.

Metro Tasmania has been notified and will implement a temporary bus stop during the construction period.

Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and kindly asks residents, motorists, and pedestrians to observe all signage and use alternative routes where possible during work hours.

Track works – Windermere Bay Walking Tracks

14 May 2026 - 30 June 2026

Works to upgrade the Windermere Bay Walking Track from Conneware Bay through to Windermere Beach have begun, and are expected to continue until the end of June.

The track will remain open during the works, with access maintained where possible.

There may be periods of temporary restricted access while works are underway, however contractors will be on site to assist and manage safe access through the area.

We appreciate the community’s patience while these important upgrades are completed.

Roadworks – Bilton Street, Claremont

13 May 2026 - 27 May 2026

Bilton Street will be closed for roadworks from Wednesday 13 May 2026 for around two weeks. Works will take place Monday to Friday between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, weather permitting.

During these hours, the road will be closed to through traffic and detours will be in place. The Intercity Cycleway at Bilton Street will also be closed while works are underway to help keep everyone safe.

Council apologises for any inconvenience and asks motorists, pedestrians and cyclists to follow all signs and use alternative routes where possible.

Work hours: 7.00am – 6.00pm
Impacts: Road and cycleway closures, with detours in place.

Amenity Upgrades – Florence Street, Moonah

11 May 2026 - 1 June 2026

Glenorchy City Council will be carrying out upgrades to the kerb and gutter, footpath, and road surface on Florence Street in Moonah, between Kelvin Avenue and Charles Street.

The work will include:

  • Building new pedestrian access ramps
  • Improving driveway levels
  • Replacing the existing kerb and gutter
  • Replacing the old asphalt footpath with a new concrete footpath
  • Adjusting or replacing lids on existing service pits
  • Resurfacing the road

Work is expected to start on 11 May 2026 and continue until late June 2026, weather permitting.

Construction hours will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

New Public Toilet Facility – Poimena Reserve, Austins Ferry

3 February 2026 - 30 June 2026

Construction has began on a new public toilet facility at Poimena Reserve, in accordance with the approved site plan and overlay.

Our contractor is currently installing temporary fencing around the work area to ensure the safety of all reserve users while works are underway.

During construction, there may be some minor changes to access within the reserve.

We will do our best to minimise disruption and thank the community for their patience as these important improvements are delivered.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of June 2026.

Disruption Type: Capital Works

Road Grading and Maintenance Work – Glenlusk, Collinsvale, Claremont, Austins Ferry and surrounding suburbs.

12 January 2026 - 31 December 2026

Residents are advised that road maintenance grading works are scheduled to commence from Monday 12 January 2026, weather permitting.

The works will be carried out by Hazell Bros / Crossroads Pty Ltd and will focus on improving road surfaces across several areas, including Glenlusk, Collinsvale, Claremont, Austins Ferry and surrounding suburbs.

How the Works Will Be Delivered

The contractor will begin at the pull-off bays on Berriedale Road, before progressing uphill toward Collinsvale. Once this section is complete, works will continue north toward Claremont.

Please note that the schedule is weather dependent. If conditions are unsuitable, certain roads or areas may be skipped temporarily and revisited at a later date.

What to Expect

During works, residents may experience short delays or temporary traffic changes. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption and maintain safe access for local traffic.
