Road Grading and Maintenance Work – Glenlusk, Collinsvale, Claremont, Austins Ferry and surrounding suburbs.

12 January 2026 - 31 December 2026

Residents are advised that road maintenance grading works are scheduled to commence from Monday 12 January 2026, weather permitting.

The works will be carried out by Hazell Bros / Crossroads Pty Ltd and will focus on improving road surfaces across several areas, including Glenlusk, Collinsvale, Claremont, Austins Ferry and surrounding suburbs.

How the Works Will Be Delivered

The contractor will begin at the pull-off bays on Berriedale Road, before progressing uphill toward Collinsvale. Once this section is complete, works will continue north toward Claremont.

Please note that the schedule is weather dependent. If conditions are unsuitable, certain roads or areas may be skipped temporarily and revisited at a later date.

What to Expect

During works, residents may experience short delays or temporary traffic changes. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption and maintain safe access for local traffic.

Watermain and Safety Improvement Works – Main Road, Austins Ferry

12 January 2026 - 16 March 2026

As a part of the annual capital works program, Glenorchy City Council would like to inform you of safety improvement works at Main Road.

During the works the bike lanes will be closed, cyclists are to use the traffic lanes provided and follow the roadworks signage.

Please be advised that the construction time will be approximately until mid-March, weather permitting.

Working hours are between the hours of 7:00 am to 5:30 pm on weekdays.

Council apologises for the inconvenience this may cause during this time and requests all motorists, cyclists and pedestrians obey all speed and advisory signs.

Disruption Type: Safety Improvement Works

Footpath works – Abbotsfield Road, Claremont TAS

8 December 2025 - 16 March 2026

Renewal works will soon begin on the kerb and gutter, footpath, and sections of the road, between Mongana Street and Russell Road, Claremont.

The works includes:
• New pedestrian islands and associated line marking
• New pedestrian access ramps
• Improvement of driveway grades
• Replacement of the existing kerb and channel
• Replacement of the existing asphalt footpath with a new concrete footpath
• Installation or adjustment of lids to existing service pits

The works are scheduled to begin on 8 December, 2025 and continue through to early March 2026, weather permitting.

Works will occur between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Road

Pedestrian and traffic improvements – Renfrew Circle, Goodwood

13 August 2025 - 1 April 2026

UPDATE: The Stage Two segment from Renfrew Circle to the Allardyce Avenue intersection is now complete and will be open to the public over the Christmas break. Works crews will return on Monday, 5 January with works progressing toward Barron Avenue. When works resume, Council will implement road closures between Allardyce Avenue and Barron Avenue to safely complete the next section of the project.

Stage two of the Renfrew Circle pedestrian and traffic improvements will begin on Wednesday, 13 August 2025.

The scope of works includes the installation of new stormwater infrastructure, removal and replacement of the existing concrete footpath and kerb and channel, followed by reconstruction of the road pavement.

As with the stage one works completed last financial year, new raised traffic tables will also be constructed at the Allardyce Avenue and McCartney Avenue junctions.

These works will involve temporary road closures, with access maintained for residents only.

Metro Tasmania has been notified and will implement a temporary bus detour during the construction period.

Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and kindly asks residents, motorists, and pedestrians to observe all signage and use alternative routes where possible during work hours.
