Our Community Conversations

A decision about staying in the family home or moving elsewhere is a difficult one to make. While the thought of less maintenance can be tempting, the emotional ties and connections to the neighbourhood are important. What are the impacts on income and services?

Linkages is a Glenorchy network for older adult and disability service providers. Linkages is hosting a Community Connections forum, which will explore these questions, at the KGV complex, Constance Ave Glenorchy, on Wednesday 28 March from 10am to 3pm.

The forum will include short sessions including in-home services, connecting to the NBN, falls prevention, in-home modifications, safety and elder abuse. A panel of community members who have had to make choices regarding where they should live, along with professionals working in several sectors will present their views on the choice to stay in your own home or move into retirement or assisted living. Many community groups will be attending to provide information including Legal Aid, Palliative Care Tasmania, Migrant Resource Centre, Glenorchy LINC, Advocacy Tasmania and many more.

Download the program so you can be up-to-date with what's happening on the day or you can pick up a copy from Council's Customer Service. You can also download the flyer below.

The forum is kindly supported by the Commonwealth Bank, Glenorchy.
