The Glenorchy Parking Plan has now been endorsed.
At its meeting on the 15th December 2025, Glenorchy City Council resolved to endorse the Glenorchy Parking Plan.
This resolution also approved the application of the Parking Plan under the Tasmanian Planning Scheme.
The Parking Plan will come into effect on the 2nd January 2026 for applicable planning permit applications under C2.0 Parking and Sustainable Transport Code of the Tasmanian Planning Scheme.
The Parking Plan will override the existing Planning Scheme controls for minimum car parking requirements for specified uses in specified zones, as detailed in the Plan and will also provide a cash-in-lieu option in certain circumstances.
A separate pre-approvals process will be available for applications seeking to make use of the cash-in-lieu provisions to streamline these assessments.
